DESCRIPTION:Harvest Festival\nKaamatan or Pesta Kaamatan is a form of harvest festival celebrated annually in the state of Sabah in Malaysia. It is normally celebrated by the ethnic Kadazan-Dusuns\, as well as by other related ethnic groups in the state\, and lasts for the whole of the month of May\, ending with a public holiday on a date selected by a priestess known as the bobohizan.[1][2]:417 \nA beauty pageant known as Unduk Ngadau will be held and it ends the harvest festival with a newly crowned Unduk Ngadau in the annual host district\, Penampang. The Harvest Festival comes under the ambit of what is known as Momolianism\, the belief system and life philosophy of the Kadazan-Dusun. There is also a dance performance called the Sumazau\, a singing contest called Sugandoi\, a bodybuilding competition\, and other arts and crafts performances. Competitions such as hitting the gong and folk sports have also become one of the main events in this festival. \nPopular drinks during the festival are tapai and Kinomol\, which is a traditional alak drink. SUMMARY:Labuan International Sea Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Labuan International Sea Sports Complex is located at the waterfront area along Jalan Tanjung Purun. It is within close proximity to Labuan town center. is the Labuan International Sea Sports Complex. Part of the beautification project under the 7th Malaysia plan\, the complex covers an area of 5.91 acres and was built at a total cost of RM25 million. \nThe annual Labuan International Sea Challenge is a popular event which offers competitors fun and frolics on the high seas off Sabah. Events include the Rolex IGFA International Game Fishing Tournament which is part of the qualifying circuit of the Rolex/IGFA Offshore Championship; the Cross Channel Swimming Challenge which sees competitors from all over the world set off on the return journey to Pulau Papan; the Round Island Kayak Challenge during which participants take on a tough 50km (31 miles) course that hugs the coastline; and the Labuan International Extreme Kayak Challenge which tests competitors skill\, strength and stamina over a 84km (52 miles) course across the Brunei Bay. SUMMARY:Pesta Kalimaran
DESCRIPTION:Pesta Kalimaran is held annually on March 31 at the Murut Cultural Center\, Tenom\, Sabah\, Malaysia. Previously\, the Kalimaran Festival was held in several places and did not follow the Malaysian tourism calendar. Sabah Ministry of Tourism\, Culture and Environment\, Datuk Masidi Manjun requested that the Sabah Murut Association be more active so that foreign tourists can come here as per Malaysia’s tourism schedule. Foreign tourists are attracted to the various handicrafts\, traditional food and traditional Murut dances found in Tenom. The Pesta Kalimaran 2008 was also attended by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman and Kemabong State Assemblyman Datuk Rubin Balang. The Sabah Cultural Board has channeled an allocation of RM120\,000 to increase tourism activities in Tenom.
