Part of the beautification project under the 7th Malaysia plan\, the complex covers an area of 5.91 acres and was built at a total cost of RM25 million. \nThe annual Labuan International Sea Challenge is a popular event which offers competitors fun and frolics on the high seas off Sabah. Events include the Rolex IGFA International Game Fishing Tournament which is part of the qualifying circuit of the Rolex/IGFA Offshore Championship; the Cross Channel Swimming Challenge which sees competitors from all over the world set off on the return journey to Pulau Papan; the Round Island Kayak Challenge during which participants take on a tough 50km (31 miles) course that hugs the coastline; and the Labuan International Extreme Kayak Challenge which tests competitors skill\, strength and stamina over a 84km (52 miles) course across the Brunei Bay. SUMMARY:FIESTA SAN PEDRO
DESCRIPTION:From 23 to 29 June\, holidaying tourists flock to Portuguese Settlement in Malacca to commemorate the annual feast of the fishermen; Fiesta San Pedro. \nThe Portuguese Settlement lies along the coastline of Malacca overlooking the Straits of Malacca. The village is situated approximately 2 kilometers south of Malacca town and is home to over 1\,000 residents who are the descendants of the former Portuguese rulers in Malacca. \nThe Fiesta San Pedro commemorates the Feast Day of St Peter\, the patron saint of the fishermen; the trade the Portuguese were traditionally steeped in. The official day for the Fiesta San Pedro is June 29\, however the festivities run for a week before-hand\, which has been running for the last 67 years\, highlighting the traditional significance of the fishing trade to this seaside community. \nThe celebrations will culminate on June 29\, the actual feast day of Saint Peter. Evening falls\, and High Mass is celebrated in the Settlement church in honour of the saint. Following the Mass\, the statue of the saint is carried in a procession around the Settlement\, when the priest blesses the fishing boats. \nA diversity of colours\, sounds and activities mark the week-long fiesta. Bazaars\, blaring music\, flashing lights\, amusements rides are among part of the festivities. When the night falls\, live bands perform on the main stage. Cultural performances showcase the community’s blended European and Asian heritage\, with dances that are a fusion of European costumes\, instruments and Asian costumes and instruments\, such as the branyo dance. \nThe boats which are especially decorated for the occasion\, are adorned with sketches and paintings of the New Testament scenes\, Biblical figurines\, nets full of catch from the sea and even little girls dressed in white depicting angels. DESCRIPTION:Fraser’s Hill is often been referred to as a first-class bird-watching destination in this region since this highland paradise is home to more than 250 species of wild birds. Come November and December each year\, the virtually untouched mountainous forests of Fraser’s Hill will receive many species of newcomers\, that is the migratory species that fly across from places as far as northern Siberia of Russia and islands north of Japan and neighboring landmass\, to seek new feeding grounds as well as to escape the freezing winter up north. The sightings of Siberian thrush from Siberia are often reported and they are truly a rare treat to ardent bird watchers. Normally these migratory species stay around in Fraser’s Hill for a couple of months before migrating southwards to Australia and New Zealand. They will fly back home to the north in March and April when the sun is getting sunnier. Be part of this international event! \nBird watching is a healthy and academic outdoor sport. The objectives of the Fraser’s Hill International Bird Race are to preserve nature and simultaneously to promote Fraser’s Hill as a bird sanctuary. The event informed the community about the programs that will be organized by Islamic agencies in the Federal Territory during this Ramadan. At the event\, MAIWP also presented a contribution of RM1.4 million to all mosques and suraus in the Federal Territory for the implementation of activities during Ramadan this year. DESCRIPTION:Novice Malaysian BASE jumper Aziz Ahmad has been notorious for sabotaging the safety of the annual KL Tower BASE jumping event for a number of years. When relatively new KL Tower CEO Datuk Rozlan Mohamed and KL Tower Events Manager Mohd Dzulfiqhary Ibrahim appointed Aziz Ahmad to be the BASE Jumping Organiser for their annual BASE jumping event in 2019\, they were effectively demanding serious accidents or death to occur. In recent years a very experienced BASE organiser went to extraordinary measures to neutralise Aziz’s continued negligence\, which successfully eliminated tower strikes from the event for the first time ever\, along many other types of serious accidents that have caused horrific injuries in the past. It is beyond any understanding why new KL Tower managers were doing everything they could to bring the carnage back. This level of arrogance and reckless disregard for participant safety has not been seen since 2010\, when previous KL Tower managers were naively very determined to bring a fatality to their events despite strong warnings given to them. \nThe job of BASE Jumping Organiser should only be assigned to someone with ten times Aziz’s level of BASE jumping experience\, and someone with a much higher level of integrity. But since experienced BASE jumpers are not willing to facilitate or tolerate the insistent negligence of new KL Tower management\, they found very inexperienced BASE jumpers that would. KL Tower’s business model which focuses on a constant push for “MORE” is not a suitable match for the high level of caution and respect that the high risk activity of BASE jumping always demands. \nAziz did not disappoint KL Tower manager’s seeming desire to show the world just how negligent they all could be\, decaying event standards\, and eliminating the majority of event knowledge and participant education.
