THE 5 MUST VISIT TEMPLES FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR IN MALAYSIA

 

Situated near the waterfront of Kuching, Sarawak, Tua Pek Kong Temple is an oldest Chinese temple in the city (opposite Kuching Esplanade). It’s also one of the most popular and also one of the few buildings that survived the 1884 Great Fire of Kuching.

 

Kek Lok Si is a Buddhist temple located in Air Itam, Penang. Not only that it’s the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia, but it’s also the largest also among countries in Southeast Asia. It was built in 1891 and has been a center for Chinese culture and Buddha teaching since then.

 

Thean Hou Temple, located in Kuala Lumpur, is one of Southeast Asia’s largest temples and a six-tiered temple of the Chinese sea goddess Mazu. It’s situated atop Robson Heights on Lorong Bellamy, overlooking Jalan Syed Putra, on 1.67 acres of land. It was finished in 1987 and officially launched in 1989.

 

Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, located at No 25 Jalan Tokong, Malacca, is one of the most popular locations in Malacca and is a Chinese temple practicing the Three Doctrinal Systems of Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism. It is the country’s oldest functional temple. Built in 1646, it’s considered as the country’s oldest Buddhist place of worship.

 

Perak Tong Cave Temple is situated under the shadow of Gunung Tasek on the main road (Tasek Road) and is accessible from town. It’s one of the oldest temples and a famous place for its mural arts. Perak Tong was discovered in 1926 by Chong Sen Yee and his companion, Choong Chan Yoke, who came from China’s Jiao-Ling province.

The most popular shopping centre for the locals in Seberang Jaya, Penang is Sunway Carnival Mall. It’s near to the iconic Penang Bridge too. Gurney Plaza is a shopping mall in George Town, Penang. Located at Gurney Drive, it began it’s inception since November 2001 and has been under the management of CapitaMalls Asia, a subsidiary of the Singapore-based organization, CapitaLand.

 

Design Village is an outlet mall in Batu Kawan, Penang. Operating since 2016, this is the largest outlet mall in Malaysia, covering a 37,161 m2 built-up area. TheDesign Village offers a special retail development destination and a residential complex intimately connected to the rest of Penang Area. It is situated in a natural, single-storey, naturally-ventilated park with cool, well-sheltered features.

 

Gurney Paragon is a residential and retail complex in George Town, Penang. Being known as one of the most popular shopping destinations in the Northern Region of Peninsular Malaysia, it was launched in 2013, situated in Gurney Drive, and built with multi-purposes building such as nine-storey shopping centre, two condominiums and an office block.

 

Straits Quay is a shopping center-cum-marina in George Town, Penang. It is located in Seri Tanjung Pinang, a newly built township located in the neighborhood of Tanjung Tokong. The seaside mall was opened in 2010, and also consists of a marina designed for small leisure vessels and a conference center.

 

1st Avenue Mall is a shopping mall in the center of George Town, Penang. It is located next to Komtar and Prangin Mall on Magazine Road, and is connected via overhead bridges to both buildings. For the style-conscious urbanites living and working in Penang, it provides fashion, leisure, entertainment and a number of dining outlets.

 

Central Park Batu Kawan is a park in Batu Kawan with a beatiful view and a famous place for local Malays to take wedding photos. It’s just right next to IKEA penang. At night, the LED lights are switched on and the whole land of Central Park will be illuminated with an eye-appealing view.
