6 Things To Do At Home During Self-Isolation

By Max Tan

It’s Day 2 since the Partial Lockdown or the Control Movement in Malaysia comes into force. Many of us are finding ourselves spending an unprecedented time at home when we would usually be out and about. This is actually good, just by staying home you actually are saving other people’s life.  But, when you’re unable to do the activities you usually would do, how do you pass the time and keep your spirits high?

Do Home Workout

So what else can you do to keep fit and healthy whilst heeding the new advice about staying at home? There are tonnes of things you can do from your chair or sofa such as squats, tricep dips, crunches, bodywork exercises and so on. If you have kids at home, you can get them involved. Make activities fun, like running around or playing hide and seek. Just keep moving and be active so that you and your family can easily pass the time.

Binge-watch TV Shows

It can be tough to find new and exciting ways to pass the time if you’re self-isolating at home. So, now is the perfect time to binge-watch a TV. Whether its Netflix, viu, iflix or maybe the good old Astro. Stock up on popcorn, chips, comfy clothes, and maybe even some maggie or some ramen. This may be the best time to binge-watch some series with your family or your housemate.

Spring Cleaning Your Home

Cleaning can be time-consuming when you have to work on the weekday and need some rest on the weekends. But this could be the best time to clean your house. Maybe start with a room and then maybe the whole house. You could also create a fun game to get the kids clean the house with you. This can be a fun family activity. Make use of this isolation and now is the time to have a clear out, tidy and start organising.

Learn a new skill

Now is the perfect time to learn a new skill, there are fewer distractions and you’ll need something to talk about when things are back to normal. How about picking up that musical instrument which has been collecting dust, learn to juggle or pick up a paintbrush? If you’re looking after children or if you’re in self-isolation with a housemate or partner you can get them involved too.

Do stay connected to people

Just because you’re self-isolating, doesn’t mean you have to cut yourself off altogether, If you feel that you’re beginning to struggle, take some time to call a friend or family member. Talk about how you’re feeling.
