Today 16 March 2020 22:00, Malaysia Government has announced on nation-wide partial lockdown by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin starting on 18 March till 31 March 2020, here is 8 things you need to know on the announcement.

What will be affected by this partial lockdown?

 

1. Prohibited all public group activities

All public activities including, religion, sport, society, commercial shop, shopping mall, temple will need to be close during this period. Effective 18th March u still can go out from your house, this is NOT a full lockdown. U can go out to work at all the Essential Service or if you don’t work there, you can go and use the service.

2. Prohibited all Malaysian citizen travel aboard

For all Malaysian who plan to travel are prohibited to travel overseas during this period, any Malaysian travel back from overseas are required self-quarantine at home for 14 days.

3. Prohibited for all international travelers inbound

During this period, all international travelers will be banned from entry to the country, this will be applied to all travelers including business and leisure travel. If you are traveling into Malaysia do request cancellation for your hotel and airline.

4. Closure of all gov and private school

All schools including, kindergartens, public and international schools will be close during this period.

5: Closure of all universities and colleagues

All international and local universities and colleagues will be close during this period.

6. Closure of all government and private offices/business

All government and private businesses company are required to CLOSE during this period, only essential services will be required to remain operational.

 

What will still be operational during a partial lockdown?

7. Essential services remain operational

such as water, electricity, telecommunication, post office, public transport, petrol station and TV, financial institution and banking, health institution, pharmacy, fire, and rescue department, prison, port, airport, border-control, public cleaning services, grocery retail, and food supply.

8. Restaurant, Supermarkets, public markets, grocery stores, and convenience stores

During this period, you are still able to go to the supermarket to stock up your groceries for daily food consumption, and restaurants still able to operate to provide food delivery. Restaurants are NOT to serve customers but can open for DELIVERY SERVICES. But if your restaurant DO NOT have delivery services, You are NOT ALLOWED to open.Restaurants CANNOT serve dine in customers.
